From left to right:
Here is a very folky pair of primitive painted carved people. They have strong personalities. The man has a carved and painted bolo tie and fancy belt buckle, with turned up cuffs on his pants. The woman is wearing a dress with lots of carved pleats, with a painted necklace and fancy belt. Both have very expressive faces. They will stand without additional support on a flat surface. The man is 17 1/2" tall by about 4 3/4" wide by 2 3/4" deep. The woman is 15 1/2" tall by about 6" wide by 3 3/4" deep. The overall condition is very good. The woman has small age splits on one hand; the other hand has been broken and reglued. The man is missing the tip of one finger. These folky folks were probably made in the 1980's, but could be earlier. They are priced at $225.00 each, or $395.00 for the pair. Inventory Code: THRA. Carved man and woman ... Another view ... These two large and funky yard art people have great character. One also doubles as a birdhouse. They have log torsos with hinged wood arms and legs, plywood feet, and faces highlighted with paint and found objects. They are both in excellent, weathered condition, and could be as old as the 1950's or 60's or might be a little bit more recent, but nicely weathered and not new. They were made in Minnesota. They are priced separately, with a discount for the pair. Both yard art log people ... Front view ... The other side ... In the yard. Larger images: Both yard art log people ... Front view ... This is an old, interesting figural carved wood staff labeled "Viking stave" made out of ironwood and signed Glenn Bell of Suches, GA. It includes a handle shaped like some kind of animal, with carved and painted eyes and two ears. On the shaft are several faces of people carved in depth, with extended noses, mouths incised and painted red, and eyes with brows. There are also several animal faces carved and highlighted in the bark. All of this has been left in a natural finish. There are two labels on top with details, and the letters B and E are incised into the handle. The tip is just the end of the wood. There is a little surface loss there, but the rest of the "stave" is good and solid, with a nice surface. This was probably made in the 1960s or 70's and is about 59" long. The price is $235.00. Inventory Code: ARAP.

This is a sculptural old and unusual long brass faucet with a heart shaped handle. It has a wonderful look to it and is now mounted on a new base and stand that display its classic features. We are not sure of the original use of this decorative industrial piece as we have not seen one quite like it before. It certainly is old, likely from the early 1900's, or possibly earlier. The top turns and can even be removed to see how the liquid would be allowed to flow. The piece is in excellent old condition. It has a great surface and color as well as very nice form. The faucet itself is 9 1/2" long by about 2" wide by 5 1/4" high. The full size, on the base and stand is 11 1/2" by 4" by 7 1/2" high. The price is $150.00. Inventory Code: TAWK. This is an unusual carved whimsey, with 3 balls-in-cages and sections carved with a twisted wood effect. It also is the first whimsey we have seen using a technique from wood turning: piecing many strips of different woods together before working it. In this way, there is a multi-toned effect from the various woods. The whimsey is in excellent condition, with a natural aged surface. It is 19 1/2" long by 1
1/2" square. It seems around 50 or so years old. The price is $195.00. Inventory Code: AKCA.

This is a 5 piece set of rustic decorative table ware items made from cedar. The group includes 2 candle sticks, a round flat serving tray, a square bowl set on 3 legs, and a larger rectangular bowl or tray. The last two might be used for holding some things like fruit, nuts, candy, or snacks.
The pieces probably were made about the 1940's. They are all finished in a clear gloss varnish, and are all generally in very good condition with some minor wear. The largest piece does have a little loss of applied pieces. The bases of items are plywood. On this are applied all sorts of small pieces of cedar, making a variety of designs. The candle sticks are turned from solid cedar and put on a base, while the square bowl sits on 3 legs which are branches of one cedar piece. The round tray is decorated with applied pieces on the top and all around the edges. The price for the group is $275.00. Inventory Code: TCKW. Cedar table ware ... Another view ... From above ... It measures 16 1/2" long by 4 1/4" wide by 8" high. There are small holes in the tips of the front paws, as if separate claws were intended, but never added.
