These are a few of a series of sketches, mostly in ballpoint ink, on 9" by 12" off-white sketch paper. Many are two sided. They cover a wide range of images. They are faintly yellowed, and most have a pinhole on one side, from the original sketch pad. Lewis preferred to use recycled and imperfect materials in his art - it reflected the value he saw in everyday objects that others discarded.

Sketch by Lewis Smith"Pattie and Dottie", a framed sketch by Lewis Smith. It is done in ballpoint ink on paper from a sketch pad. The paper has yellowed somewhat with age. The sketch pad was pierced through, so there is a small hole on the left edge, and also a faint crease in the lower right. It is mounted in a green wooden frame. The sketch itself measures 11 3/4" wide by 8 3/4" high, and the frame is 14 3/4" by 11 3/4". It is from the last quarter of the 20th c. The price is $250.00. Next are some 2-panel diner sketches. These are each drawn in ballpoint pen on two separate sheets of sketch paper, and measure 9" high by 24" wide. They are very detailed, with humor and social observation. Please note that all the pieces are rectangular. They may look skewed because of camera angles. The color and darkness of the drawing is stronger than shown. The closest, but still not as strong, are in the biggest close-ups. The thumbnail picture below is a detail view showing only a portion of one drawing.
