Benny Carter Statue of Liberty clockThis is a Benny Carter Lady Liberty, Statue of Liberty clock. It is very well made, with good painting, decoration, and writing both on the front and back. The clock has 2 brass finials; hand carved, painted, and applied wooden rosettes; cut and applied smaller Lady Liberty pieces on the bottom support; 4 applied mirrors; wooden spool spacers; a hand painted "button" scene of New York; and a series of painted yellow cabs. Writing on the front includes his signature, and "Come up and see me sometime". On the back it is signed again, and is written "Carter Clock Co. Mayodan, N. C.", as well as the statement "Time is running out for the Slotin Nights people in the dark". The clock stands 54 1/2" high by 18" wide by 5" deep. It has a hanger on the back. Overall the piece is in excellent condition. However, at this time the clock does not run. It needs a pendulum and key to wind the mechanism. The age is unknown. The price is $795.00.
